July

I can't believe July is here. I've been looking forward to college for at least 4 years now, but I didn't think it would be like this. So many things are happening. I didn't think things would change this much with my friends. I thought we would always be together and available if somebody needed somebody else. That's not what happened and it sucks. Anyway, happy July and I'll update a little later. Peace.

Roommate: Part 2

Yeah, I talked to my new roommate for college next year. We talked for probably 15 minutes and he seems like a good guy. We both like a lot of the same music and movies. He has a sweet TV that he's going to bring and I have a mini-fridge that I got for a graduation present. And we're going to have a dart board in the room! :) He doesn't plan on going home during the weekends, so that's a good thing. I don't want to go home for the first few months, but my sister will probably change my mind. I would have her come down and visit, but I don't want her staying on the same floor as a bunch of college kids. Maybe she'll get a hotel with my Mom for a weekend or two. That would be perfect.
In other news, work is going pretty well. I need to get as much money as I can for this fall.

Last Night

Well, we had a very good time on the date. "Up" is a tremendous movie, and I would recommend it to everyone. It is certainly not just a kids movie. It has deep themes that everyone can relate to. We were both very touched. Doug steals the show. He's the dog. I can't say enough good things about it.
After the movie, we got some ice cream and walked around a bit. There is a spot right at the base of the river that has some streams and babbling brooks. It's very peaceful. We just talked there for about an hour.
All in all, I had a great time. We're going out again some time this week. Have a good day.

Date

I asked her out and she said yes!! I decided not to go to the outdoor movies tonight because it's a double feature and we won't have much time to talk.
So we're going to see "Up" at around 8 o'clock. It's supposed to be really touching and cute. Aaron said the first 15 minutes are so romantic and touching, you just about fall apart. So, I'm hoping that she likes it.
I have to get a quick shower and get moving. Stay off the roads, Cincinnati. I don't want to be late. :)

I talked to my roommate, too. I'll talk about that later.

Songs for my friends

I don't really have a lot of new things to say today, other than I pray for those affected by the storms last night.

My friends mean everything to me. I am posting a song that reminds me of them and they time we've spent together.

For MJ, here is Eminem. Remember all of the nights we rocked to this in my car? We were true gangsters! :)

For Jeff. Although we still don't know if she is a man or a woman, this reminds us of Senior year. Did we listen to this 44 or 45 times in a row that one day??

For Carnage. All the nights we spent over the years talking and dreaming.

Heat

The heat index is about 110 degrees today. You can't even walk outside without feeling like you might pass out. I feel sorry for the factory workers like Jeff, and everybody else who has to deal with it.

We were thinking about going to the outdoor movies on Saturday night, if it's not too hot. They play 2 feature movies on a huge outdoor screen every Saturday here, and it's free. We've already been once this summer. It's awesome.

Keep cool, everyone!

Possible Date

I met this girl at a restaurant last week. I was there with my friends, and she was there with hers. They had the table next to us and were throwing things over during the meal just to be silly. We invited them over, and a few of us exchanged numbers. I was thinking about asking her to see a movie soon. I've already seen The Hangover, and I've heard Up is really good. Should I take her to one of these or something else? I haven't really had a date in about 7 or 8 months, since my last girlfriend. I'm a little nervous. I guess since I'm leaving for college soon, it doesn't make a huge difference but it would be fun to be able to have a real date instead of hanging out with my best friend when they have theirs. Hmmm.

Roommate!

I received the information on my new roommate for college today! He lives only an hour away so we might visit during the summer.
You have to fill out a roommate-compatibility form and they match you up. Some of the questions include: How neat are you? What time do you like to go to sleep? Do you listen to loud music? Do you attend parties? Things like that. Apparently we are a good match, so I'll see how it goes.
I emailed him and hopefully will hear back soon.
I can't believe school is going to start in August. I've been thinking about this for so long. I'm going to miss my friends and family so much. I'm a little shy at first so I hope I can open up to people early on. It will be nice to get a new group of girls to possibly date. You get in a rut when you're around the same group for so long.

First blog

I promised my teacher I would write during the summer, so I wouldnt be rusty when I went off to college, so here it is. I hope noone I know reads this. In fact, I won't ever tell them it exists.

I dont' know what to write exactly, so I'll tell you about my family and friends.

My Mom was only 17 when she had me and has been a single mother her entire life. She worked and went to college when I was just a baby, after she finished high school after I was born. We basically grew up together. I call her by her first name most of the time, but she will always be my incredible mother. It is to her credit that we were able to get enough money to afford college. (at least the first year). We'll worry about the rest later. I have enough loans to make it this year, though.

I have one sister, who is 14. She loves music and the computer and television. Her favorite show is Gossip Girl. We get along very well. In fact, I am almost like a Father to her. When she was little and scared, she would climb into my bed when she was scared of the dark or of storms. I take her wherever she wants to go, and we sit up for hours at night talking about our dreams. She is going to be crushed when I leave. I don't know what she is going to do. She is starting to cry about it almost every day. When she isn't around or looking, I cry about it, too. :(

I have 3 best friends: Aaron, Jeff and Mike. I'll talk about them in alphabetical order because I would never put one in front of the others.

Aaron: Mr. Nickname. I started calling him Brooker in the 4th grade or so. That stuck for the longest time, until we went into High School. He used to be really skinny. But he worked his butt off, and became an incredible athelete. (he was always good, but just too small)

Then, in our Sophomore year, he nearly decapitated this dude on the football field. They had to carry him off on a stretcher. Somebody talked about all the carnage that was left when he left the field. So, Aaron's nickname became Carnage44. Or Carnage. All of his good friends just call him "44". He also has the nickname, "Ana", but you don't even want to know why.

He would kill me if I talked about what is happening with him, so I'll discuss the person he is and what I'll remember most about him.

He is a genius. No, I mean he is literally a genius. He's the smartest person I've ever known. They tried to get him to skip grades in school a few times, but he refused. They tested his IQ, but he wouldn't ever tell anyone what it was. That is how he is. He is the most private person in the world, but also the most confident. It's weird. Usually confident people want to tell everyone how great they are.

I'm jealous of him. He is so GODDAMN confident, it's scary. I feel like I don't even belong in his presence sometimes. I have a hard time talking to people. He immediately walks up to the best looking girl anywhere we go and talks to her like they are best friends.

He can get any girl he wants at any time. It's scary. But the thing is, he usually doesn't want her.

His girlfriend is so beautiful, I can barely even breath when I'm around her. The first time he met her, he told her they would fall in love some day. Who has the balls to say that? It wasn't a line, either. He never jokes about those things. He's not a player, he just knows things.

Then, he tells her he doesn't want to date her right then. (He and his girlfriend had just taken a break, and he wanted some space) Then, she got a boyfriend and he eventually got another girlfriend.

For some reason which nobody knows, he decided to date a girl from Canada. I know, right? A guy who can get any girl he wants dates a girl from Canada?? That really pissed off the girls in our school. They tried at every opportunity to make them break up, but it never worked. Aaron would never cheat on a girl. One time I took him to a party because I was his ride. He wanted to go home and talk to this Canadian girlfriend, but he had no choice. There was a girl there, Danielle, who took him downstairs to talk because they were friends. I guessed she ended up taking her shirt off, and tried to kiss him. I went down to find him, and I heard him yelling at her at the top of his lungs. He was just swearing and swearing and swearing at her. It's strange, becuase he NEVER swears. At all. Unless he is playing football. He was so pissed off. The ironic thing is that the Canadian girlfriend ended up cheating on him. I assume that's what happened because he still won't talk about it.

I'll tell you more about Aaron at a later time because this is getting long. Until then, I love you Brooker.

Jeff: He is kind of the odd man of our group. He doesn't play sports, but that's okay. He has a single-mother too, which might be part of the reason we first became friends back in the 6th grade.

He has long hair and used to be the tallest kid in our class. He literally, never grew after the 7th or 8th grade. He's still about 6 feet tall. They don't have a lot of money, and his car is a classic. And by "classic", I mean it's really funny. The hood is falling off. Literally. He has to tie bungy cords on the front to keep it on. Sometimes, when we are driving, the hood will fly up and we'll have to pull over to the side of the road to fix it. Mike calls it, "Junk", as a nickname. It's hilarious. One time, at a dance this year Aaron and Mike left. They went to the parking lot and drove junk all the way to the other end of the school. How did they get the keys, do you ask? They took Jeff's keys a few weeks earlier and got all of them copied. So, Jeff still has his keys when this all happened. They take the new set and move his car. Jeff was convinced that Junk was stolen. We all pretended to act pissed because he was our ride home. Then we all split up to look for the car. Mike comes tearing around the parking lot right next to Jeff driving Junk. You should have seen the look on his face.

Jeff isn't going to college next year. He's going to stay here and try to get enough money together to attend a JC next year. He's working at a wood factory right now. I've been over there 3 or 4 times already to eat lunch with him on his break. Most of the people are 30-50 years old. Everyone asks Jeff if he is married, but the dude is only 18. It's hilarious. And they all smoke. They seem cool enough, but I know he wants to get out of there and go to college.

Jeff has a sister who is 16. She sometimes hangs out with us. We like the same movies and music.

Mike or MJ. The most loyal guy you'll ever meet.

Friends mean everything to him. If anyone messes with his friends, he will make them pay. He would take a bullet for me, and everyone else I know. That is what I will miss the most about him.

We have been friends since about the 2nd grade. We used to play flag football together. It's weird, because he was kind of an asshole as a kid. He used to pick on me. Finally, we were on the same team, and he totally changed. I guess he was just being competitive.
His girlfriend is incredible. They've been going out for about 2 years, and I hope they get married. They're going to the same college, so it's very possible. I went to Prom this year with Mike and his girlfriend and Aaron and his girlfriend. You would think it awkward, but it wasn't. I danced with both of them. They are incredible girls.

One time Mike and I went golfing and there was a horrible accident. A guy was talking a practice swing, right when I kid walked directly behind him. The club hit the kid in the face and knocked him directly down. We thought he might be dead. Mike took his shirt off, and stopped the bleeding. The guy called 911, and the ambulance came and took him away. The next day, Mike and me went to the hospital to visit the little kid. His name is Nathan and he's 10. Mike gave him his phone number, and he takes him out movies and to the arcade once in a while. That's the kind of guy Mike is. If you are his friend, he'll never forget it. I love him like a brother.

I have to stop becuause this is taking waaay longer than expected. I'll write more about my friends and family at a later time.

At least my teacher would be proud that I wrote something. :)
